Privacy Policy

GutaGuru is an event discovery platform for Zimbabwe, operated by Zanatech LTD (“we”, “us”). Zanatech LTD is the data controller for the information described here.

You can browse events without an account. We collect:

If you create an account

• Your email address
• Your password, stored only as a salted hash — never in readable form
• A display name, which defaults to the part of your email before the @
• Your account role and sign-in timestamps

As you use the app

• Events you upvote, save, rate or share
• Your points balance and a ledger of the actions that earned them
• Events you submit for review, including any images you upload
• Venue ownership claims you make, including supporting notes

Automatically

• Standard server logs from our hosting provider, including IP address and browser type, kept for security and troubleshooting

We do not collect your location, contacts, photos beyond what you deliberately upload, or payment details. GutaGuru does not process payments.

• To run your account and keep you signed in
• To show you your saved events and personal activity
• To rank events on the leaderboard and award points
• To review submitted events and venue claims before publishing
• To detect abuse, spam and vote manipulation

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it to build advertising profiles.

We share data only with the providers needed to operate the service:

• Supabase — database, authentication and image storage
• Vercel — application hosting and server logs

Both act as processors on our instructions. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Our infrastructure is hosted outside Zimbabwe, so your information is stored and processed abroad.

Some things you do are visible to others by design. Your display name and points appear on the public leaderboard. Events you submit appear publicly once approved. Ratings contribute to a public average.

Your email address is never shown publicly. If you would rather not be identifiable, change your display name in your profile.

Account data is kept while your account is open. If you delete your account, your profile, upvotes, saves, ratings and points are deleted with it.

Events you submitted that have been published remain on the platform, since they are factual listings about public events rather than personal information — but they stop being linked to you.

You can ask us to:

• Show you a copy of the data we hold about you
• Correct anything that is wrong
• Delete your account and associated data
• Stop using your data for a particular purpose

GutaGuru is intended for people aged 13 and over. Some listed events are held at licensed venues and are restricted to over-18s by the venue, not by us. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13; if you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.

Connections are encrypted in transit. Passwords are hashed. Access to the database is restricted by row-level security so that, as a rule, you can only read your own activity.

No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted over the internet.

We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced in the app. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
